Difference between Asian Handicap -1.0 and Asian Handicap -1.25

Asian-Handicap-1

The asian handicap -1.0 is a full goal handicap while asian handicap -1.25 is a quarter goal handicap. In soccer, ties or draw is quite common and having it as a betting option is available in traditional bookies. In asian handicap betting, there is no draw option because the handicap will force a winner even if there was a tie in the game. In other sports such as basketball or baseball there are only two possible outcomes and teams are given almost equal chances where possible. Bookmakers are then able to offer odds as low as 1.9 – 2.0.

A handicap that is expressed in whole or half goals is a single handicap. This means that one can either win or lose their entire bet if placed at the stated odds. It is only possible to have a draw when the handicap is expressed in whole numbers also known as a straight bet. This is known as a push in betting terms and results in a refunded bet. A half win gives the possibility to win half the profit of a win. A half loss on the other hand results in losing half your wager. Half win-half loss is not a possibility in asian betting. You also have the chance to get your stake back in case of a draw which is not available in a three way situation or a betting exchange.

Asian handicap -1.0 explanation

In the full goal asian handicap, the underdog is given a head start while the favorite is given a disadvantage using an integer value such as 1, 2, 3. The stronger side receives a negative while the weaker side receives a positive value. The term one ball handicap is often used to refer to asian handicap -1.0. Here there are three possible outcomes; win, lose, void. This implies that there is a lower risk because there is the option of having your money returned otherwise known as a “void” bet.

Example:

asian handicap -1.0

Scenario: We bet €10 on Chelsea -1.00

  • Win if Chelsea wins by 2 or more goals (2:0, 3:1, 4:0) – profit will be +6.3 (stake 10*1.63 – stake 10)
  • Lose if Swansea City wins or if a draw occurs – we lose our stake -10
  • Returned 10 if Chelsea wins by 1 (1:0. 2:1, 3:2)

Asian handicap -1.25 explanation

The quarter goal asian handicap is expressed in quarter goal increments or decrements. It is expressed in values such as 0.25, 0.75, 1.25 with a plus or minus sign to indicate the direction. In the quarter goal handicap, your stake is automatically split into two equal portions. The two halves then run as separate bets on either side of the bet and then your winnings are combined. By betting on the asian handicap -1.25 means half of your bet will be placed on -1 and the other half on -1.5. In simple terms you bet the team will lose, win or draw with less than a goal on the one hand. On the other hand, the team may lose, win or draw with less than 1.5 goals. Figuring the return on asian handicaps could be slightly difficult if you are used to playing the traditional bookies. However, once you do it will be very exciting since just one goal could make tremendous difference in your winning. You have faith in an upcoming team yet they may not really beat those champions. Here you can bet on hunch and not lose completely.
